Rodgers is known for his songwriting partnerships, first with lyricist Lorenz Hart and then with Oscar Hammerstein II. Among his many accolades are thirty-four Tony Awards, fifteen Academy Awards, a Pulitzer Prize, and two Grammy Awards. He is responsible for musicals such as Oklahoma, Babes In Arms, South Pacific, Pal Joey, Carousel, The Boys from Syracuse, Cinderella, On Your Toes, State Fair, Flower Drum Song, The King and I, and The Sound of Music.
